STEM Activites
Great Exhibition Road Festival
The Great Exhibition Road Festival is a weekend-long celebration of curiosity, discovery and exploration in South Kensington.
It is a collaboration between 20 cultural institutions including Imperial College London, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the V&A and the Royal Albert Hall.
The Festival brings together science and the arts in a unique programme of creative workshops, talks, exhibitions and performances, many of which are suitable for a primary school audience.
Talk with Scientist Series
This programme gives primary school students the chance to meet a real-life scientist and learn about their research in an engaging way.
These talks are recorded and then shared online so many more students can benefit - watch the recordings here.
Planetarium Days
Our primary planetarium days are designed to give primary students a chance to be immersed in space. School groups are invited to visit Imperial's South Kensington campus and the Science Museum to engage in numerous activities. These include:
- Inflatable planetarium
- Workshop or 'Meet a Scientist' session
- Science Museum Wonderlab visit
Unfortunately, our primary planetarium days are currently suspended due to COVID-19. We will be looking to restart this programme in the 2022-23 academic year.
Reach Out Lab visits
The Wohl Reach Out Lab (ROL) is a state-of-the-art laboratory at Imperial's South Kensington Campus.
It provides a dedicated science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) space where our team of subject experts can deliver educational activities to raise the aspirations and scientific literacy of young people.
Please be aware that places are assigned according to eligibility and availability. To find out more, email us at outreach@imperial.ac.uk.
Science Clubs
Science Clubs is an externally-funded programme that provides one term of an after-school club to a designated school that introduces children from disadvantaged areas to STEM learning opportunities they might not access otherwise.
Created by Imperial Postgraduate Ambassadors the sessions provide an assortment of activities to engage young people and help them build a greater understanding of the world around them.
If you are interested in obtaining the electronic resources for use at your school, contact outreach@imperial.ac.uk.
