Birds of the World from The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a powerful research database that brings together deep, scholarly content from four celebrated works of ornithology with millions of bird observations from eBird and multimedia from the Macaulay Library into a single platform where biologists and birders can explore comprehensive life history information on birds.

British Journal of Healthcare Management

Addresses the ideas and issues around managing health care for the 21st century and published by MA Healthcare Ltd. Considers the theories, politics, and practice, which inform and influence managers. Alumni access mirrors the journal content which the Library currently subscribes to and is available from 2013, volume 19, issue 1 onwards to current issue.

British Journal of Hospital Medicine

EBSCO Education Databases

EBSCO Educational Databases is an online education resource comprising British Education Index (BEI); ERIC; Educational Administration Abstracts; Education Abstracts; and Child Development & Adolescent Studies.

Economist Intelligence Unit EIU

The Economist Intelligence Unit is the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, providing forecasting and advisory services through research and analysis, such as monthly country reports, five-year country economic forecasts, country risk service reports, and industry reports. Imperial College London subscribes to EIU reports on the following ten countries: China, France, Germany, Italy, India, Greece, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States of America.

GeoScienceWorld 

The GeoScienceWorld journals collection provides access to 50 top-tier geoscience journals from 30 global publishing societies. This amounts to 202,000+ articles and abstracts, including the recent addition of the journals Earthquake Spectra, Russian Geology and Geophysics, and SEG Discovery.

Health Service Journal

As well as news and insight, HSJ provides in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the English NHS and health service policy, including exclusive briefings and expert reports.

Henry Stewart Talks

Henry Stewart Talks offers audio-visual presentations from different speakers on a variety of subjects, with access to two different collections:

The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection – contains over 1,500 talks on subjects such as genetics, drug discovery and biochemistry.
The Business & Management Collection –  contains over 900 talks covering economics, finance, marketing and related topics.

ICE Virtual Library Journals 

The ICE Virtual Library, from the Institution of Civil Engineers publishing division, is the most comprehensive online civil engineering resource in the world. Explore archives dating back to 1836, and access ICE Publishing's internationally renowned journals.

Ideas Roadshow's Academic Portal 

Ideas Roadshow is a multimedia magazine dedicated to an in-depth and accessible exploration of a wide variety of topics in the Social, Natural and Cognitive Science and Humanities. Ideas Roadshow comes accessible in video, eBook and MP3 formats.

IEEE All-Society Periodicals Package (ASPP)

IEEE ASPP Online is a core collection of engineering, electronics, and computer science periodicals available via the IEEE Xplore Digital Library from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. It includes over 170 journals, magazines and transactions covering the period from 2005 to the present, plus content from ‘ Bell Labs Technical Journal’. Please note that ASPP is a subset of IEEE Xplore and does not provide access to the same content which the Imperial Library offers. 

Instant Anatomy

Instant Anatomy is a web resource to aid in the study of human anatomy with diagrams, lectures, podcasts, questions, MCQs and apps.

Intermid

Includes ‘British Journal of Midwifery’ and its sister title ‘African Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health’ from MA Healthcare Ltd. Alumni access mirrors the journal content which the Library currently subscribes to with archive access included back to volume 1.

Internurse

A collection of peer-reviewed nursing content from MA Healthcare Ltd. and home of the ‘British Journal of Nursing’. Alumni access mirrors the journal content which the Library currently subscribes to with archive access included back to volume 1. Internurse covers primary and secondary care settings as well as the whole spectrum of specialist nursing practice including cardiology, neuroscience, mental health, palliative care, and wound care. 

IOS Press SMP e-journals

A collection of electronic journals from a broad range of scientific, technical and medical (STM) subject areas published by IOP press. It includes over 100 journals covering many scientific areas including biomedicine, chemistry, computer and communications science, mathematics, engineering, physics, environmental and social sciences, economics, policy, and management. Alumni access reflects the journal content to which the Library currently subscribes to with full text archive access included back to Volume 1. Full access is available to key journal publications including Journal of ‘Alzheimer's Disease’ and ‘Technology and Health Care’.

JSTOR

JSTOR is a digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources. It helps people discover, use, and build upon a wide range of content through a powerful research and teaching platform, and preserves this content for future generations. We are pleased to offer alumni access to the JSTOR Archival Journals and Primary Sources Collection. 

JSTOR Global Plants

Global Plants is the world’s largest database of digitised plant specimens and a locus for international scientific research and collaboration. Consisting of nearly 3 million objects, Global Plants is the largest community-contributed database in which herbaria share their plant type specimens and experts determine and update plant names.

Karger Medical & Scientific Journals

Karger provides research and clinically-oriented online journals titles for the medical and scientific community. It includes a vast spectrum of medical titles covering subjects of medical science, health sciences and biomedicine. Access will be available to the complete list of Karger journal titles back to and including the subscription year 1998 (or to Volume 1 if published later). Full access is available to key journal publications including high Impact Factor journals such as ‘Liver Cancer’, ‘Respiration’, and ‘Gerontology’.

Lyell Collection

The Geological Society's Lyell Collection represents one of the largest integrated collections of online Earth Science literature available. It includes online access to all of the current and archived journals plus Special Publications and Society book series. Alumni access reflects the online content to which the Library currently subscribes to. Full access is available to key journal publications including ‘Journal of the Geological Society’, ‘Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology’ and the ‘Geological Society Special Publications’.

MIT CogNet

MIT CogNet is an essential research tool for scholars in the brain and cognitive sciences. Authoritative and unrivalled, it is an indispensable resource for those interested in cutting-edge primary research across the range of fields that study the nature of the human mind. The resource comprises of 13 core reference works, eight e-journals and over 900 e-books.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global

The largest single repository of graduate dissertations and theses, ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global (PQDT Global) simplifies searching for dissertations and theses via a single access point to explore an extensive, trusted collection of 3.8 million graduate works, with 1.7 million in full text. Designated as an official offsite repository for the U.S. Library of Congress, PQDT Global offers comprehensive historic and ongoing coverage for North American works and significant and growing international coverage from a multiyear program of expanding partnerships with international universities and national associations.

RefWorks 

RefWorks is a bibliographic software package that enables you to: import references from databases or text files, create references from saved PDF articles, build up your own database of relevant references, add correctly formatted citations to word documents and build a bibliography. As an alumnus, you have free access to RefWorks. Your access includes:

  • a free RefWorks account
  • new updates and feature releases
  • 200 MB of file attachment storage
  • the ability to share your folder or account via RefShare
  • free web-based training
  • technical support.

Rockefeller University Press

Rockefeller University Press publishes research in the life sciences and biomedicine, with a particular focus on biomedical research topics including genetics, cell biology and neuroscience. Full access is available to the following journal publications:

  • Journal of Cell Biology (JCB): publishes advances in any area of basic cell biology, as well as applied cellular advances in fields such as immunology, neurobiology, metabolism, microbiology, developmental biology and plant biology. 
  • Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM): publishes papers providing novel conceptual insight into immunology, neuroscience, cancer biology, vascular biology, microbial pathogenesis and stem cell biology. 
  • Journal of General Physiology (JGP): publishes mechanistic and quantitative cellular and molecular physiology of the highest quality. 

Sage Journals

A collection of journals in the health sciences, life and biomedical sciences, materials sciences and engineering, and social sciences and humanities. Full text is only available for selected subscribed and freely available journal titles.

SAE Mobilus 

SAE Mobilus is an authoritative source for current mobility engineering information. The standards and related publications are not available in full text. A help section is available by clicking on the question mark symbol in the bottom left of the homepage. 

Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Library

This collection from Society of Exploration Geophysicists includes all journals and meetings papers content, including coverage of the innovations, trends and technologies shaping applied geophysics. Alumni access mirrors the journal content to which the Library currently subscribes with archive access included back to volume 1. Full-text access is available to key journal publications including 'Geophysics', ‘The Leading Edge’ and 'Interpretation'.

Spiral

Spiral is the College’s institutional repository for research outputs such as journal articles, working papers, doctoral theses and Master’s dissertations. It contains full-text documents only and aims to be a showcase for the research that Imperial’s research community carries out. You can access certain Imperial content as an alumnus. Statista

Statista is an online database which gathers and compiles market data and business intelligence from numerous institutes and sources, including market researchers, trade organisations, scientific publications and governments. It contains more than 1 million statistics on more than 80,000 topics, from more than 22,500 sources and 170 different industries. Alumni have access to the following:

Times Higher Education (THE)

Times Higher Education (THE) provides access to the latest edition, published every Thursday, and allows you to browse full editions dating back to 2013. You can also search the archive for earlier articles and opt to receive a weekly email alerting you when the new edition is available.

Wall Street Journal 

The Wall Street Journal provides detailed news and commentary on political, economic, and social issues worldwide affecting the world of business. 

Walter De Gruyter STM e-journal collection

A collection of science, technology and medicine e-journals from the publisher Walter De Gruyter. Alumni access mirrors the journal content to which the Library currently subscribes to with archive access included back to 1995, or volume 1 if later. Full-text access is available to key De Gruyter journal publications including ‘Pure and Applied Chemistry’ and ‘Biological Chemistry’.
