Overview

Overview

This integrated e-learning training programme consists of several micro-learning modules focused on specialised topics and designed to raise awareness of hazards and control measures for working safely in hazardous areas (i.e., laboratories and workshops) across the College.

This training programme is recommended for all personnel engaged in laboratory work at the College.
Staff/students only need to complete the modules that are relevant to their work. The mandatory modules selected for completion by each individual should be dictated by their role and the specific hazards present in their areas of work.
Staff/students should discuss which modules they should complete with their line manager/supervisor.

Line managers/supervisors responsible for carrying out training needs analysis for their staff/students should consult the Training Matrix to check the relevance of these modules. Some modules, such as Electrical Safety and Maintaining a Safe Working Environment, will apply to everyone working in laboratories and workshops.
Other modules, for example, Radiation, Legionella or Biological Agents, will only be relevant if those specific hazards are present in the work area.

Training can also be proactive, so these micro-learning modules are open to all College staff and students. Anyone interested in acquiring knowledge in the health and safety aspects covered in these modules can access and complete them.

Each of the 12 micro-learning modules takes 5-10 minutes to complete and has an online assessment at the end of the course. The pass mark is 80%, and multiple attempts are allowed.

No enrolment is necessary. Select the modules of interest below and start the e-learning courses.
