To support the development of a strong senior team, we recommend phased group coaching support over an initial period of around six months. Desired outcomes will be refined and co-created with the Head of Department, but some suggestions for early development include:
- The creation of a strong, cohesive team, operating effectively to enhance the service offering, clarifying the team vision, charter, values, ways of working and culture
- A greater understanding of each team member, how to best communicate, support and collaborate to deliver the results
- Agreement on the mandate and purpose of the team, making peace with the past and agreeing on how the team best operates to add maximum value
Phase 1 – Discovery & Engagement (first two months) could typically look like this:
- 1st coaching and planning call with Department Head (1.5 hours) – to set out aims of both her individual coaching and the coaching of the senior team
- Team Kick-start session – setting out a vision and explaining team coaching, building engagement
- 121 interviews (30 mins per person) with each team member – understanding members' experience of the team/department and what they think needs to be worked on
- Coach attendance to observe and feedback on internal departmental meeting - 2 hrs
- Coach to run 2x 50 min focus groups with wider department members
- 121 Coaching call 2 with Department Head (1.5 hrs) – reviewing progress and exploring anonymised themes from discovery interviews.
- - Group Coaching Session 1 – a full day in-person – exploring discovery themes, clarifying purpose, 'relaunching' the department and team
