Copyright and Creative Commons
The session will explain the importance of copyright when using other people’s images in your assignments, posters and presentations. We will discuss Creative Commons licenses and how they make it easier to reuse and repurpose other people’s content.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- understand Creative Commons licenses and how they are used in different contexts for copyright
- choose the correctly licensed image for your academic situation
- reference and attribute images for different purposes
This workshop will not be offered in Autumn term 2024.
Introduction to generative AI tools
This workshop is an introduction to large language model (text-based) generative AI tools. We will explore a selection of platforms and their practical applications. We introduce techniques to create more effective prompts to use when interacting with AI tools and discuss how AI might be used responsibly and ethically.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Identify the key features of notable text-based generative AI tools.
- Develop effective prompts for engaging with these generative AI tools.
- Apply knowledge of generative AI tools responsibly for tasks and learning.
- Understand the importance of using generative AI in the context of college and departmental guidance.

An introduction to the types of company, financial and industry information available. The session includes financial statements, company profiles, reports, share price and other financial data. Find out about some of the best databases available through Library Services and learn useful search techniques.

This workshop is a general introduction to academic databases and using search tools such as Web of Science, Engineering Village, PubMed, and Google Scholar to find high quality academic research to support your project work and assignments. You will have an opportunity to practice using these databases in the session.
