Watch our video on how to access College services away from campus.

As of Monday 16 December 2024, and in response to an increase in cyber threats to the higher education sector, the use of Unified Access is now a mandatory requirement for connecting to the Remote Desktop Gateway.

Imperial services that are on the cloud can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, as long as you have an internet connection. Popular cloud services include your email, Office 365, Panopto and Blackboard.

Other Imperial services and applications require a private secured network to access them when working away from campus, such as ICIS. Staff should use Unified Access to access services and applications remotely. Students can use Azure Virtual Desktop or a VPN service if there is anything they cannot access via the cloud.

Some countries have higher levels of control of the internet which can impact access to certain services and software. Find out more about internet censorship. For those working remotely from China, we have a dedicated guidance web page with details on what you can and cannot access.
