DBS checks for Other Engagements
- Students
- Casual/Honorary/Visiting/Volunteer/Contingent workers
- Research Passports for Honorary Research Contracts (HRC) or Letters of Access (LoA)
Students (including postgraduates and PhD students) requiring a DBS check for their studies, for undertaking research as part of their studies, or for a Research Passport for a Letter of Access (LTA) or Honorary Research Contract (HRC) should contact studentrecords.dbs@imperial.ac.uk
Before a DBS check can be undertaken for Casual, Honorary, Visiting, Volunteer and Contingent workers a risk assessment must be undertaken and sent to the Staff DBS team for review by the Director of Safeguarding as per the University's DBS Procedure. This is due to the risk of unsuitable practices or participants being potentially greater when the activity is undertaken by non-employees of Imperial College.
Once the risk assessment has been reviewed the Staff DBS team will send details on how to apply for a DBS check if appropriate.
The Staff DBS team will undertake the relevant DBS check required for a Research passport if applicable. The HR Staff Hub will complete the Human Resources section of the Research passport form. Further details can be found here on Research passports.
