Applications for 2024 will be accepted between Monday 11 March 2024 and Monday 22 April 2024
The Stevenson Fund makes available annually three bursaries of up to £7,500 each to help current Imperial College London students undertake an international research placement with a leading female academic in a similar institution. These are available to female students from Imperial College who are studying for degrees in the following departments;
- Centre for Environmental Policy
- Department of Computing (Mathematics and Computer Science courses only)
- Department of Chemistry
- Department of Earth Science and Engineering (Earth and Planetary Science, Geology and Geophysics courses only)
- Department of Life Sciences
- Department of Materials
- Department of Mathematics
- Department of Physics
Please note: this must be your registered department and not your chosen research focus
Recipients of the Stevenson Fund will be expected to submit a report about their placement and share their experience; they may also be invited to join the selection panel in the following year.

Recipients from the previous year
- The Stevenson Fund is available for female students at any level of study (UG/PGR/PGT) who are registered to one of the aformentioned departments.
- You must be a current, registered Imperial College London student to apply for the fund and must have at least one year of study left on completion of your placement.
- The funds awarded are to be used to support the undertaking and completion of the research placement e.g. visas, travel, accommodation.
- The placement must be conducted outside of the UK and can be for up to a maximum of three months, there is no minimum placement length.
- Students must have a potential placement in place and submit the details of this in their nomination form, stating how the placement will benefit them and their studies.
- You can submit a maximum of one nomination form per award cycle
