Our research
The Care Research and Technology Centre (CR&T) launched in June 2019. Our research goal is to develop integrative technologies to support, monitor and treat people living with dementia in their own homes and elsewhere. We are using new technologies and research tools to conduct ground-breaking dementia research.
We have a unique multidisciplinary team of CR&T investigators with expertise in computer science engineering, synthetic biology, neuroscience, and clinical medicine. A cross-cutting data science programme links our research to the rest of the UK DRI. An in-house software engineering team supports the flexible development of new computing capabilities and our unique patient engagement programme, led by the Helix Centre at Imperial, brings the views of people living with dementia to the forefront.
We are investigating patients affected by the main neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy Body dementia, post-traumatic dementia, and vascular dementia. Through close integration with health and social care providers, we are rapidly translating our research findings into clinical practice.
