Transport operators use benchmarking to improve their operations and management, leading to financial, environmental, productivity, reliability and service quality benefits for their customers. The objectives of benchmarking are:
- To establish a system of measures for internal management, and to use these measures to identify best practices
- To support decision-making and support transport agencies in achieving their operational, environmental and strategic goals.
- Provide comparative information for senior managements and stakeholders, such as governments and regulators
- Share knowledge and best practices in a confidential environment
Each benchmarking group has its own secure website, which can be accessed by the participants to download all available reports and presentations and through which they can communicate with each other through an online forum.
