Our current focus is on advancing understanding of the sectoral context for innovation and competitiveness in the UK. We are conducting a series of studies on ‘Sectoral Systems of Innovation and the UK’s Competitiveness’. These set out the state-of-play and potential ways forward for different sectors, focusing on their gross value added and how this compares internationally, the new technological opportunities, and policy recommendations for government and industry.
So far, we have published reviews on the UK’s telecommunications, biopharma and medical devices sectors. A review of the fine chemicals sector is underway and new sector studies are starting on aerospace, automotive, and tidal energy.
We welcome stakeholder feedback on each of these reports. If you have any comments, please get in touch with Rupert Shute, Director of engagement and Professor of Practice, CSEP (r.shute@imperial.ac.uk).
