The Laboratory of Plant Morphogenesis
is an independent research group started by Dr Giovanni Sena in 2012 in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London.
The main focus of the Lab is to understand how the interaction between genome and environmental stimuli results in the plasticity we observe in plant development. With a background in physics and developmental biology, Dr Sena is fully dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach, combining molecular genetics and quantitative phenomenology (live imaging, morphometrics, morphodynamics, etc) with abstract modelling. We are not afraid of tinkering the small known and exploring the vast unknown.
Collaborations across Departments help to maintain a stimulating environment, taking advantage of tools spanning molecular biology, genetics, physics, mathematics and computer science.
