Camelia Dominguez Quintans MSc 2017

I came to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Imperial College London for the first time in my year abroad during my master's studies in 2017. I joined the Geotechnics section during my Master thesis and after that I was given the opportunity to continue as a PhD student. During my PhD, I have been mostly working in the Geotechnical laboratory where I focused on the behaviour of sandy and silty materials that deposit in underwater environments.

Upon completion of my PhD studies, I moved to Oslo to join the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute as a Project Engineer. Currently, I enjoy having the possibility of getting involved in a wide range of projects, all the way from research and laboratory developments to project management, preparation of tender proposals for offshore site investigations or geotechnical engineering design assessments. In particular, I have always been fascinated about offshore renewables and I am lucky to learn everyday key insights about all aspects, potentials and limitations of this industry.

Being part of the Geotechnics section alumni is and will always be a great honour and I am sure the section has shaped how I think and who I am today. I will be forever grateful for the in-depth knowledge, scientific mindset and experience acquired throughout my years in the Geotechnics group. And last but not least, I will always cherish the personal development and true friendships I gained for life.
