Concrete Durability
The Concrete Durability Group was established at Imperial in 1987, specializing in all aspects of concrete degradation. We aim to advance current understanding of deterioration processes (e.g. reinforcement corrosion, sulphate attack, alkali-silica reaction & freeze-thaw attack) and to develop more effective methods of design, assessment and repair of concrete structures.
To realize these objectives a mixture of experimental and modelling techniques are utilized including microscopy, mass transport measurements and numerical modelling.
