Underground tunnel air raid shelter

The Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication (CLCC) is delighted to be hosting an exhibition curated by Ana Sanchez and Xavier Domenech  this January. Entitled ‘The role of engineering in times of war: air-raid shelters in Barcelona’, the exhibition is made up of photography and artefacts.

To launch the exhibition, a roundtable discussion will take place in the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication featuring four panellists from relevant fields. There will also be opportunity to view the exhibition and hear from curator Ana Sanchez. Registration in advance is essential.

Agenda – Thursday 9 January

4:40pm Guided tour of the exhibition by its curator, Ana Sanchez.

5 – 7pm Roundtable and discussion War and passive defense: shelters and exiles’. Panelists:

Seminar – Thursday 30 January

As well as the exhibition, open to the public until 28 February, Ana Sanchez and Xavier Domenech will deliver a CLCC Research Seminar on their work, held in-person at Imperial College London and online on Thursday 30 January: Barcelona Air-Raid Shelters: From The Spanish Civil War To The Blitz
