Get to know us better.

Join the Physics department at a virtual open day to explore programme content, meet course leaders and ask questions.

The Department of Physics has a vibrant taught graduate portfolio offering eight master’s programmes spanning a wide range of topics. Approximately 200 master’s students join us each year from around the world, with backgrounds in physics, mathematics, engineering and the other physical sciences.

The department is offering the following programmes for 2025 entry:

  • MSc Physics
  • MSc Physics with Extended Research (2 year)
  • MSc Physics with Fusion and Plasma Physics
  • MSc Physics with Quantum Dynamics
  • MSc Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces
  • MSc Security and Resilience: Science and Technology
  • MSc and MRes in Optics and Photonics
  • MRes Machine Learning and Big Data
  • MRes Soft Electronic Materials

Through a combination of lectures, practical laboratories and individual research projects, students are bought to the cutting edge of research. Specialisms include cosmology, physics of light and materials, to the physics of the quantum realm, and down to the tiniest scales of particle physics. Our programmes span all the way from blue skies research areas through to those with very direct application in industry, computing and the resilience of society.

The Virtual Open Day is your chance to:

  • Learn more about the department, our master’s programmes and their entry requirements
  • Chat to teaching and support staff
  • Ask questions live

This Virtual Open Day will be hosted on GoToWebinar. If you can’t attend but would like to find out more, please register to receive a recording of the session.
