In this talk Dr Linda Van Keimpema will share the findings of her recent master’s in education research. In this qualitative study, Linda interviewed six Black women studying STEM at Imperial to discuss their role models and the impact their role models have. Join this talk to learn about the experiences of this double underrepresented group in STEM, their struggles, and their suggestions for change. The findings of the research include insights on how representation impacts ambitions, the current diversity of the Imperial curriculum, and how to implement effective widening participation. Aiming to improve the teaching and educational environment for all, this talk provides insights to support underrepresented students best in their educational journey and their future ambitions.
